Equipment
A custom console has been built around the new Manley Backbone. We have a mix of great sounding classic and modern analogue kit including Chandler and API EQs, Neve, Cranesong and Thermionic Culture Compressors, complimented by TC, Algorhythmics, PSP, Sonnox, Magix and Brainworx digital processing. This combination of equipment gives us a range of different characters and flavours, from transparent through to very coloured. We have moved away from what you would normally expect to find in most studios, making our mastering offering unique in many ways.
Our choice of monitoring is of particular interest; instead of using the standard large studio monitors we have adopted an audiophile approach which gives us more detailed high fidelity reproduction. Our TAD Reference 1 monitors feature time-aligned, dual-concentric mid and top drivers, bringing a much greater degree of realism to the mix. These are driven by customised Trichord Research D300 mono block amplifiers.
Whitemark designed the acoustics of the room, taking into careful consideration our equipment choices. This combination provides a clean, even soundstage with superb imaging, detail and dynamic range.
The studio also features a Neumann VMS80 cutting lathe, Studer A80 Preview and custom ultra low noise floor DAV electronics, all in immaculate condition for pure analogue cutting and analogue replay for CD mastering.
